If you suffer from OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), you’ll probably be familiar with the overwhelming compulsions you have to maybe do certain things, or do them in a certain order, just to keep going and although that may sometimes make you feel like you are going mad, you aren’t, and you aren’t alone in having to deal with this.
There are lots of us who feel caught in what can feel like a horrible and really distressing cycle of very hard to control anxiety and overwhelming compulsions. You might be living with constant negative thoughts, fears and worries which may leave you feeling frustrated and very upset.
You Are Not Alone
If you have been suffering for a long time and can see no way out of the situation it is important to realise that you are not alone and although these feelings may be difficult to talk about, there are many organisations, such as OCD UK (check out their website at www.ocduk.org), and therapists that are here to help you and offer support.
There are lots of us from all walks of life and ages that suffer from OCD-related issues that lead us into a vicious circle of stress and anxiety. You may feel your habits are getting out of hand and daily life is spiralling out of control from repetitive activities such as checking a door is locked, repetitive handwashing, to avoiding cracks in the pavement, hoarding unnecessary items or a checklist you go through to ensure your or your family’s safety.
The Power of BWRT
If you want to change your life but are not sure how to go about it, one of the therapies that is gaining a reputation for valuable support for OCD sufferers is Brain Working Recursive Therapy (BWRT), a new and advanced model of psychology and psychotherapy which embraces the latest thinking on neuroscience and psychological health and is a completely logical, practical and down-to-earth therapy that can be used for any kind of uncomfortable situation or condition.
BWRT is solution-focused and can help provide a speedy solution for many mind-related difficulties, however stubborn or deep-rooted they may be. It is a totally confidential method to the extent that you don’t even need to reveal your private information or personal secrets and you are in a completely conscious and alert state throughout your session.
How We Can Help
Genevieve, our fully qualified BWRT practitioner, will fully explain how BWRT actually works and although, as in all therapies, you have a part to play in the process, it is a very easy part. All you will have to do is keep focused on how you want to be when the work is complete. During a session of BWRT, Genevieve will ask you a few questions about your background and what has brought you to see her – but she will not ask you to reveal any secrets or intimate details of your life. This is a totally private therapy in which the only thing you need to be able to do is tell Genevieve how you feel and how you would like to feel instead.
She will use your own brain processes to create the processes you want instead of you having to put up with the ones that are giving you problems. She will start by ‘freezing’ the troubling thoughts then employ a technique called ‘Recursive Looping’ to condition the way the brain responds to triggers. BWRT is the only therapy (as at July 2016) to work in this manner, making it one of the fastest and most effective therapies around. Often, a single session is sufficient to resolve your problems. It’s rare for there to be a need for more than 4 sessions.
